Tater Tot Hotdish Cookoff & Game Night
Do you have a winning tater tot hotdish recipe?
Bring your best creative version of tater tot hotdish to Fellowship Hall for the ‘second annual’ cookoff on Saturday, March 21st by 5:30 PM (rescheduled from the 14th due to weather warnings).
All versions MUST contain tater tots, but can be vegetarian, vegan or meat-filled.
We’ll eat, vote, and play games until 8 PM.

Celebration of Life - Marj Sethna
A Celebration of Life remembering Marjorie Ford Sethna will be held at St. John’s at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 23, 2026, with visitation one-half hour before the service and a reception following in the Fellowship Hall.

CRAFT AND CHAT TUESDAY—March 24, 2-4 PM
Bring your unfinished project with you to St John’s Lounge on Tuesday, March 24. We will spend the afternoon crafting and chatting. Coffee, water and treats are provided, but you are always welcome to bring a treat or snack to share.

Holy Conversations
All are welcome to join in ’Holy Conversations’ led by Pastor Mark on Thursday mornings beginning at 10:30 am at St John’s. This is a time for exploring faith, the Bible, and timely topics - wherever that may lead. For the next few weeks we will be reading and discussing a book written by Rolf Jacobson with Karl Jacobson and Mike Pancoast, God Meets Us in Our Suffering: Hope and Encouragement for Those Journeying through Cancer. Maundy Thursday Worship
MAUNDY THURSDAY is the first of the three days of the Pascal (Easter) Triduum and marks the night of the Last Supper as told in the Bible. Holy Communion will be celebrated at this service in St. John’s sanctuary.
Good Friday Worship
GOOD FRIDAY, the second day of the Triduum, is a Christian holiday commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus and his death at Calvary. Worship on April 3 at 7 p.m. is essentially a continuation of Thursday’s service of worship.
Easter Morning
ON EASTER DAY we celebrate the Resurrection of Our Lord … the culmination of our journey with Jesus through Lent and Holy Week.

Reminder that childcare staff will not be present at this event.

Join in the Annual Chili and Cornbread Contest!
Bring entries to the church kitchen by 9:45 on February 1st, then following 10 am worship, all are welcome (entering the contest or not) to come to fellowship hall to taste the good food, vote for your favorite chili and cornbread entries, and enjoy conversation! See you there!

Christmas Eve Candlelight Service of Lessons & Carols
Come and worship, come and worship, worship Christ, the newborn king!
Holiday Singalong & Potluck with a Jello Contest!
Following 10 am worship on December 21, we’ll hold a Holiday Singalong in the sanctuary, then gather in fellowship hall to share a meal and vote for our favorite Jello conconction! Bring your favorite Christmas and/or Jello dish to St John’s on Sunday, December 21 or simply come and celebrate the morning together.
Your Jello dish can be a salad, a dessert, or plain. The Jello dish with the most votes will win a small prize and bragging rights for one year.

Holiday Bazaar
St John’s Missionary Circle will host its Holiday Bazaar during the receptions that follow each performance of Messiah Dec. 12 and 13 at St John’s. You may find baked goods, candy treats, preserves, handmade gifts, art/craft items, and other treasures. Proceeds from this bazaar help to support local and global causes, including the sponsorship of four boarding school students in India who would never have the opportunity to have an education or even leave their villages without our help.
The Messiah performances will be Friday, December 12 at 7:30 pm and Saturday, December 13 at 4 pm at St Johns. Join neighbors and friends for the event!
Handel’s “Messiah” - an Oratorio
St. John’s Music Series will present St. John’s Oratorio Chorus in Handel’s “Messiah” on Friday, December 12, 2025 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, December 13, 2025 at 4 p.m. in St. John’s sanctuary. The chorus will perform with orchestra, soloists, and Music Series Artistic Director Brian A. Schmidt conducting.
These concerts are presented free of charge, open to all. Free will monetary donations to help defray cost are also welcome.

“Christmas in Brass” Minneapolis Brass in Concert
The Minneapolis Brass Ensemble presents “Christmas in Brass” in a free concert at St John’s Lutheran Church, 4842 Nicollet Ave S, Minneapolis - 3 PM, Sunday, December 7! Stan Bann is the new Director of the Ensemble. Their mission is to make high-quality brass music accessible to both performers and audiences in the Twin Cities.
Ring in the holiday season with radiant brass music!
Holy Conversations: “Life Together”
All are welcome to join in Holy Conversations and explore “Life Together” as described by pastor/theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer in his book. Copies are available in the church office.
