Participating in Worship

The Sunday worship service at St. John's is at 10:00 a.m. Our primary liturgy, or service outline, is the beautiful and historic service of Holy Communion from the Lutheran Book of Worship. The "green hymnal," or LBW, is found in the bookrack on the back of the pews. On the third Sunday of each month we worship with a different service and use the songs and hymns to be found in the blue hymnal titled With One Voice.

As you arrive for worship on Sundays, one of our ushers will hand you a service guide, or "bulletin," in which the order of the service is printed. Page numbers are provided if you wish to follow the service entirely out of the Lutheran Book of Worship. Please note that when the service outline says "Page 57," it refers to the small page numbers at the bottom of the page in the front of the hymnal. When the service outline indicates "LBW 518," this refers to the hymn numbers in large print at the top of the pages.

You may sit anywhere you like in the worship area. Directions on when to stand are indicated in the service order by an asterisk (*). The worship leaders will give other directions.

On the back of the service folder you will find printed the readings for that particular Sunday. You will also find information about programs and events that may be of interest to you.
