Music at St. John's Lutheran Church

The St. John’s Choir, Brass and Handbells have started rehearsals, but we welcome new participants anytime!  Do you sing or play an instrument?  Click here.

Our singers and instrumentalists enjoy making music together and invite you to consider participating in the following groups:

  • St. John’s Choir (SATB) is comprised of high school students and adults (Joyce Larson, director).  Rehearsals are on Wednesdays 7:30-9:00 in Fellowship Hall and the choir sings in worship most Sundays and holidays September-May.

  • St. John’s Brass rehearses on Wednesdays 6:45-7:30 in the Chapel and plays in worship about once per month.

  • Handbell Choir just reformed this fall!  We are looking for more participants, so contact Joyce Larson if you are interested in learning more.

  • Children’s Music is celebrated at the beginning of Sunday School each week (Anne Nervig and Michelle Nordberg, directors).  The children sing in worship several times each year, sharing their gifts with the congregation.

  • Soloists and Small Ensembles, both instrumental and vocal, enrich our worship during the summertime.

  • Choir Accompanists often volunteer and bless us with their gifts.

St. John’s Oratorio Chorus, a community choir directed by Joyce Larson, is based at St. John’s.  Its annual performances of Handel’s Messiah have been a tradition since 1990.   More information about Messiah performances and other musical events in the St. John’s Music Series can be found here.
