Welcome and thank you for visiting
St. John's Lutheran Church.
St. John's Lutheran Church is
a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). As such we believe
in the Triune God - Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe in
Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, and the Gospel as the power
of God for salvation for all that believe. We believe that the
Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the written Word
of God, inspired by God's Spirit speaking through their authors,
recording and announcing God's revelation centering in Jesus Christ.
We believe the Church to be a people created by God in Christ
and sustained by the Holy Spirit, called and sent to communicate
God's creative, redeeming and sanctifying activity in the world.
Membership
Being a member of St. John's involves
making a commitment to be involved in the life and programs, and
financial support of the congregation. Three to four "Newcomer's
Open House" opportunities are held each year, usually beginning
with a date in September. New members are then welcomed into the
congregation on the following Sunday. These sessions are held
at the church, and childcare is provided. Dates and times for
our "Newcomer's Open House" events, and the Sundays
when new members join are published in the congregation's monthly
newsletter, The Messenger. Non-members, however, may participate
in all worship services and programs of the congregation except
for voting on congregational business and holding office.
St. John's welcomes non-member families who are seeking baptism,
or wish to enroll children in Sunday School or Confirmation. The church is not available for weddings for non-members.
Funerals for non-members may be held in the church building in
consultation with the Pastor.
