Education and Prayer

The Casserole Club is a monthly dinner and Bible study for young adults. All levels of Bible study experience and apprehension are welcome. Come if you're Lutheran and come if you're not. Come if you've been to church lately and come if church freaks you out a little bit. Come if you read the Bible and come if you don't own one. We've got extras.  It's a great place to ask questions, meet new people.

We meet on the first Thursday of each month.  Sometimes we're in the cozy lounge at St. John's and sometimes our members offer to host at their homes.  Join the Facebook group "Casserole Club" and RSVP to an event for location and details each month.  This group is always excited to welcome new faces to the conversation.

Casserole Club was featured in the November 2009 issue of The Lutheran Magazine!  Click here to view the article.

The St. John's Blog Study meets online whenever you chime in!  This year's study is based on the September-May study from Gather Magazine and is posted on the Stories from St. John's blog the first day of each month.  We are walking through the Gospel of Mark from a new perspective -- check out!  Chime in with comments or get together with a friend each month using the online study as a reference.

The Book of Faith Study meets on Wednesday evenings for a simple supper and study together at 6:15pm.  (This group breaks for Evening Prayer during Advent and Lent and during the summer.)  The Book of Faith is an ELCA initiative, challenging participants to engage scripture’s context and story from several perspectives.  All are welcome!

Missionary Circle meets on the first Wednesday of each month at noon.  We gather for food, fellowship, and a program that usually includes a guest speaker who shares about a particular topic of interest.  This is a great opportunity to learn and share about mission and outreach.

The Prayer Partners ministry encourages intergenerational fellowship in the church community and teaches us to support one another with prayer.  Prayer Partners can spend time together in worship and during fellowship after services, during All Together events, and church activities.  Contact the church office if you would like to be a prayer partner.

The Prayer Chain is a great way for people in the St. John’s community to support each other.  Please contact the church office with your prayer requests and know that you are prayerfully supported by the faith and love of your brothers and sisters in Christ.

Do you have a prayer concern you’d like to share with the pastors? Would you like a pastor to visit you or a loved one? Fill out the back of a Fellowship Card from the pew rack and place it in the offer plate or contact the pastors directly.
