Children, Youth and Family

What’s happening this season?
Thank You, CYF Committee!
We are all leaders when it comes to the faith formation of young people at St. John's, but if you have an idea or question about the ministry we share, please contact a memeber of the CYF committee or Pastor Mark Hallonquist.
Confirmation and Youth Retreat was a BLAST!
For the second year in a row, the youth of St. John's partnered with two other congregations to have a really big winter retreat. We played games, ate good food and learned about our Lutheran heritage. Thanks for another great weekend Janyary 14-16.
Have You been to Kids' Night?
Kids' Night welcomes kids in fourth grade and older to get together on the fourth Wednesday evening of the month. They usually meet upstairs in the fireside area 7 - 9 pm, but in October they'll meet in the afternoon on Sunday the 30th to take a field trip to the MIA. Activities are organized by the kids and Kari Prescott facilities. So far they have visited a peace garden, baked for our neighbors, played games, assembled an IKEA couch and done service projects. To receive email updates about Kids' Night, contact Kari Prescott or the church office.
Trust Youth Events are Coming Up!
Junior and Senior High Youth are encouraged to attend TRUST Youth Events. If you are interested in a service project or fellowship activity on the TRUST Youth calendar, contact the church a month before the event.
View the TRUST Youth Calendar here.
Be sure to check the All Together page for intergenerational events and
activities this season!
What does faith formation look like at St. John’s?
When your child was baptized, you made promises as parents in the presence of God and the congregation. The Church also made promises that day. We vowed to support and pray for you as your child grows in faith. SPLASH! is one way we can keep that promise as your child develops and you grow as parents. This ministry includes:
SPLASH! is a great way to celebrate your child's faith formation between birth and Sunday School, making faith connections in the church and at home. You are your child's first priest and we hope SPLASH! will help you imagine ways to nuture faith wherever you are.
Our Spark Sunday
School
Our 6th-8th graders prepare to Confirm Faith by considering the gift of faith they were given in baptism and how it has grown in their lives. This year we are studying the Ten Commandments, the Apostles' Creed and becoming leaders in worship. Students are invited to affirm their baptism by being confirmed during worship on Pentecost Sunday at the end of 8th grade. For a Confirmation calendar and requirements, click here.
Students may also download Worship Notes.
