Sundays in Advent

Worship at St. John's on Sunday at 10:00 am and stay for fellowship and donuts.  Sunday school is at 9:15 am. This Advent, we will focus on welcoming the Christ Child, members, neighbors, and guests to St. John’s. St. John’s youth will be creating ornaments to be displayed in our narthex using photos of St. John’s members.

Missionary Circle meeting December 6 – bring socks!

Our Saviour's Housing, a ministry begun by Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, is in need of warm winter socks for homeless men.  Missionary Circle members are collecting socks and encourage the Congregation and Child Care to contribute socks as well.  The Circle will meet at noon on Wednesday, December 6 and will be delivering the socks to Our Saviour's at 23rd and Chicago after the meeting. Look for collection baskets in the back of the Sanctuary and in the Child Care Center. The Giving Tree open until December 18

Each year St. John’s Child Care Center likes to take on a group giving project to help our children realize the importance of helping others in need. For the past 18 years, St. John’s Child Care Center and the congregation of St. John’s Church have worked together on this special project. This year we have a new GIVING TREE opportunity.  We are going to partner with our next door neighbors, Justice Page Middle School (formerly Ramsey Middle School).  Fifteen families have been identified by social workers, Annie and Cassie, as "highly mobile/at risk".  During winter break we will assist those [...]

Children Youth and Family Committee provides Sunday School, Nursery, and more.

Sunday School for 3-year olds through 5th grade is at 9:15-9:45 AM. Nursery care is available during worship services. Confirmation classes for 6-8th grades are on Wednesdays at 5:00 PM (except during Advent when they meet on Sundays at 11:30am.) TRUST Youth gatherings: monthly during school year at Judson, LCCR, St. John’s or Lynnhurst; grades 6-12 and friends! .

Congregation Annual Meeting January 28, 2018

Our church constitution needs revision to align with changes in the model constitution adopted at the last ELCA assembly. A copy of our current constitution, the new model, and a side-by-side comparison of new/old language will be available for reference in the Lounge. Conversations will be scheduled for congregational input prior to voting on these changes at a congregation meeting in conjunction with our annual meeting on Jan. 28, 2018.

Justice Page School Food

Page Backpack Program... Food is needed! Please continue to bring the following items for filling the backpacks: cereal (Cheerios, Rice Krispies, Mini-Wheats), rice, canned tuna or chicken, macaroni and cheese, canned fruit, canned corn. We supplement with fresh fruit (purchased with cash donations) and bagels (donated by Bruegger’s on 46th & Nicollet). Sunday School and Child Care Center families are also contributing to the store of food. Thank you for your continued commitment to providing backpacks of food to 15 Justice Page Middle School families.

October was a month of joyful celebrations! October 21, we hosted Kaitlyn and Isaac Johnson’s wedding. On October 29 we celebrated a baptism for Henry, a baptism for Sylvia, Clara Willette’s confirmation of faith, all under the banner of the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation! All of this brought to life the saying is sure: “Truly the Spirit of the Lord is in this place!” And God’s spirit continues to blow life into us, carrying us into November.
