St. John’s Presents: “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving on Friday, November 16 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. What fun will the night hold? We’ll gather in the St. John’s Lounge for Thanksgiving-themed crafts and activities. 6 p.m. — We’ll fill our plates with pizza and settle in to watch “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving” on our new projector screen! The movie is family-friendly and only 30 minutes long. Children Youth and Family Activities

Sunday School is from 9:15 to 10:00 am. Share your hopes and dreams for children, youth, and family programming at St. John’s! (No Sunday school on November 25, Thanksgiving weekend) Homework House! Tuesdays 3:10-5:10 p.m.  Middle and high school students can hang out with friends from the community each Tuesday in the lounge to work on homework.  (No Homework House on Tuesday, Nov. 20 - Thanksgiving break) Drop-in! Bible Studies in Fall

Thanksgiving Eve Worship…

...and pie Wednesday, November 21, 6:00 p.m! This year, the worship committee is asking that we connect our message of thanksgiving to the theme of “God’s Work, Our Hands” with which we began our program year in September. On Thanksgiving Eve, please bring a physical object that represents how God’s work is manifested by your hands both inside and outside the church. Wednesdays in Advent

Beginning on Wednesday, November 28, we’ll gather for a meal at 5:00 p.m. in Fellowship Hall, then move to the Chapel for a worship time from 6:00-6:30 pm. Hark, the Glad Sound! is our theme for mid-week worship and celebration at St. John’s this Advent season. From each verse ofthe hymn, “Hark, the Glad Sound,” one can draw aconnect to our Core Values. Each Wednesday evening in Advent we will focus on one of these Values—Welcoming, Worshiping, Healing or Serving—with a unique style of worship and activities together. Handel’s Messiah 2018

St. John's Oratorio Chorus and Orchestra perform Handel's Messiah on December 8 (7:00 p.m.) and December 9 (4:00 p.m.). Plan to attend this annual concert in its twenty-ninth year! Rehearsals began on Sunday, October 21. Seven regular rehearsals on Sundays, 6:30-8:30 p.m. through December 2. One orchestra rehearsal on Thursday, December 6 from 6:30-10:00 p.m.

Justice Page Backpack Program

During the 2018-19 school year, St. John’s will continue to provide 15 backpacks of food to be given to Justice Page Middle School families. Some changes have been made in the requested food list this fall. To avoid making the backpacks too heavy for students to carry, we are asking folks to choose food packets and plastic when possible. Food items include: peanut butter, packets of tuna and chicken (lighter weight than the cans),  cans of chunky soup/stew, canned ravioli, boxes or packets of dried noodle soups ( again lighter than the cans), canned peaches, pears and pineapple, canned corn, apple sauce [...]
