SUNDAY SCHOOL classes will not be meeting the next three Sundays, April 2, 9 and 16 in conjunction with Minneapolis schools’ spring break and Easter. Classes will resume on Sunday, April 23 at 9:00 a.m.! Come to Sunday school before worship at 9:00 a.m. for music, Bible stories and crafts. Nursery care is offered for those up to age six during worship each Sunday. Activity bags can also be found in the narthex.

Lenten Suppers and Worship

Please join us for supper and fellowship before the Wednesday night Lenten worship based on the service, “Behold Our Light,” which we also used in Advent. Soup will be served starting at 5:45 PM, with worship following at 7 PM. The five soup suppers will be on March 8, 15, 22, 29, and April 5. Volunteers are needed to set up and serve, to bring dessert, and to help clean up. Please see the sign-up sheet in Fellowship Hall or contact the church office.

Loaves and Fishes Monday, March 27

Volunteers from St. John’s will serve for Loaves & Fishes  Monday, March 27 at 5:00 p.m. If you can help or have questions, please call Marlene Holden at 612-927-6369. Members of St. John’s Lutheran Church cook or serve dinner for Loaves and Fishes at the St. Stephen’s site in Minneapolis on 22nd Street and Clinton Avenue on the 4th Monday of every other month. This is a wonderful ministry that connects people all over the Twin Cities.

Meals on Wheels Easter Flowers

TRUST Meals on Wheels places tiny artificial flower arrangements on trays at Easter.  As they have done for several years, Missionary Circle will create 80 of these cute favors.  Please join the Circle at noon on Wednesday, April 5 in St. John's Chapel for this lively craft project. Please bring your own lunch.  Dessert will be served. You are also welcome to bring bottle caps (large ones from cleaning supplies, deodorant, etc.), small artificial blooms, wire cutters or scissors.  Play-Doh is provided. It will be a fun time!

Caritas Vocal Ensemble

performs at St. John's on Sunday, April 9 at 4pm followed by dinner. This concert will benefit TRUST Parish Nurse Program. Tickets: $15 for concert, $25 for concert and dinner. Tickets for seniors: $10 for concert, $20 for concert and dinner Caritas Vocal Ensemble is a 9-person a capella choral group with a passion for singing and a desire to change the world through their benefit concerts.  You'll enjoy amazing vocal harmonies through their music, while raising money for an important cause.

Missionary Circle Dessert Recipe!

Missionary Circle met on Wednesday, March 1 with Ann Paulson, St. John's accompanist and office assistant as speaker on the topic of her calling. Betty Johnson brought a lovely dessert and agreed to share her recipe for Cafe Latte Turtle Cake.  You will love it!

Chili Bowl Winning Recipe!

CHILI BOWL!  2nd Annual St. John’s Chili Competition Sunday was a great success!  Over $300 was donated to support St. John's food and backpack program for families of Ramsey school.  Eight people brought their best chili and the winner was Jeanne Tuvey.  She has agreed to share her recipe for white chili.  Thank you to everyone who participated.

Food for Families of Ramsey Students

Together we are packing 15 backpacks every month!  Keep up your generous food and cash donations. Requested foods are: rice, meat (canned chicken & tuna), canned fruit, mac & cheese, and cereal (Cheerios, Rice Krispies and Mini-Wheats). Cash donations are used to purchase fresh fruit. Bruegger's Bagels at 46th & Nicollet donates bagels to top off the backpacks.  Ramsey families have expressed heartfelt thanks.
