Visit the Book Fair!

Tuesday Wednesday Thursday September 24, 25, 26 Join in sharing a love of reading with our St. John’s Child Care students at the Book Fair in the Lounge. It’s a great way to connect kids you know with books they want to read! Consider purchasing a book for one of our classrooms; teacher “Wish Lists” will be posted at the fair. We appreciate your dedication to creating lifelong readers. See you at our Book Fair open 7:00am to 6:00pm!

Harbor Light Project – November socks, mittens, gloves…

Missionary Circle invites St. John's congregation to donate items monthly to Harbor Light Center in Minneapolis, which is a shelter for the homeless operated by Salvation Army. Thank you for your help! Harbor Light Project Schedule: November 2019 – socks, mittens, gloves (hats welcome too) December 2019 – new or used blankets and sleeping bags January 2020 – new or clean used towels February 2020 – toothpaste, toothbrushes, toiletries March 2020 – socks April 2020 – new or used blankets and sleeping bags May 2020 – new or clean used towels June 2020 – toothpaste, toothbrushes and toiletries

A Sanctuary Church – What Does This Mean?

The Evangelical Lutheran Church of America has declared the church to be a sanctuary for refugees.  Jim and Karen McConkey from Mayflower Church (United Church of Christ) shared their personal experiences with asylum seekers sponsored by their church with the Missionary Circle at their October 2 meeting.  People interested in learning more and moving toward an understanding of 'what this means' for us are welcome to reach out to a Circle member for more on this conversation. Vicky Ercolani hosted the meeting; JoAnn Christopherson is Circle Chair.

St. John’s Oratorio Chorus rehearsals

for Handel's "Messiah" continue on Sunday evenings from 6:30-8:30 through December 8th, with a Thanksgiving break on December 1. There will be a full dress rehearsal on Thursday, December 12 from 6:30-9:30 p.m.  Performances will be Saturday, December 14 at 7:00 p.m. & Sunday, December 15 at 4:00 p.m at St. John's. Come and meet our new director, Kira Winter!
